Halloween Toffee Apples

These delectable toffee apples serve as the perfect guilt-free Halloween treat!

Season: Autumn

Overall Cooking Time: 30 minutes

For 8 Toffee Apples


  • 8 red apples

  • 300 grams sugar

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 100 ml water

  • 4 tbsp honey

  • 8 wooden sticks

  • A few drops of food coloring (optional)

For toppings:

  • Crushed candy bars

  • Crushed cereal

  • Black licorice

  • Crushed nuts

Any other topping you would like!


  1. Stick the sharp end of the wooden sticks into the stalk-end of each apple. Make sure the sticks are firmly wedged in.

  2. Lay down parchment paper on a cutting board.

  3. Heat a large saucepan and add the sugar, lemon juice, and water. Swish the ingredients around in the pan before adding the honey.

  4. Bring to a boil until it reaches the stage at which it will harden (takes around 15 minutes). This can be tested by placing a drop of the toffee into a cold glass of water, and if it is ready, the toffee should harden.

  5. Bring the heat to the lowest level.Then, dip each apple into the toffee and turn them in order to cover the entire apple. Allow the excess toffee to drip off before placing the apple onto the parchment paper. If desired, add food coloring to the toffee in order to color the apples. We used black for a few apples for a spooky effect!

  6. If adding toppings, make sure to coat the apples while the toffee is still sticky. Toppings can be placed in a bowl and the apple can be dipped in, or they can be placed onto the toffee by hand.

  7. Allow the toffee to harden and enjoy!
