Birchermüesli

Sweet Chocolate, snowy mountains, sharp pocket knives and … Birchermüesli! Let’s enjoy the world-famous Swiss breakfast classic today. Fun fact: This yummy superfood was created 100 years ago by a doctor called Maximilian Oskar Bircher-Benner ;)

Season: Spring

Preparation time: 5 min.

Entire time: 10 min. (+ soaking)

Important note: Soak oats overnight


Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 80 g fine oat flakes

  • 300 ml milk (e.g. soy milk or oat milk)

  • 2 apples (small, sweet-sour, e.g. Braeburn)

  • 2 tbsp hazelnuts

  • 2 tbs honey, maple syrup or melasse

Procedure:

  1. The night before: Mix oat flakes with milk. Leave it to soak overnight in the fridge.

  2. In the morning: Wash apples and grate them into fine strips or small cubes. If organic, you do not need to peel them.

  3. Chop the hazelnuts. Add the hazelnuts, apple pieces and some honey into your soaked oat flakes.
